UK Tier 2 Visa
UK Tier 2 Visa permits individuals to go and remain in the UK to work with an official company and this visa has substituted the Tier 2 (General) work visa. You may also work in an eligible job and study with their Tier 2 visa, do volunteer work, travel out of the country and come back as well as bring your family as dependents.
- Be employed by an official UK employer
- Have a sponsorship certificate from the employer with all the job details
- Work in a permitted profession
- Get paid the minimum salary; the amount depends on the profession
- Be proficient in English to at least CEFR Level B2 (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking)
- Have a visa-eligible job
- Get a salary of minimum £25,600 yearly or £10.10 hourly, either of which is more.
- Have a minimum of £1,270 in bank to prove that he/she can sustain in the UK
- Be able to pay the healthcare charges of £624/year
- Have a minimum of £1270 to sustain himself/herself and £285 for a dependent partner, £315 for a first child and £200 for each additional child.
Validity:
UK Tier 2 Visa can be considered valid for 5 years before one can get an extension. You will have to file an application to get an extension or updated visa when it is expiring or if you switch the job or employer. Not only that, you can also file application for indefinite leave to remain after 5 years, if eligible.
Application Fee:
Outside the UK: £625/ person for 3 years and £1,235/ person for more than that.
Inside the UK to extend, switch or update their visa: £719/person for up to 3 years and £1,423/ person for more than that.
Extend your visa
One can file an application to get an extension for a Skilled Worker visa or a Tier 2 (General) work visa if he/she:
• has the same job as when got previous consent to come or remain in the UK
• has a job is in the same profession code as when given the last consent to come or remain in the UK
• is still employed by the organization that provided their current certificate of sponsorship
Potential incumbents are recommended to not travel abroad until a verdict is received. In that case, the application will be withdrawn as and when deemed appropriate by the regulatory bodies.
